What is the Pizza Hut Book It! Program?

Pizza Hut’s BOOK IT! program is a fun and flexible set of resources used by teachers in US primary schools. By rewarding accomplishments with praise and recognition (plus pizza!) kids can celebrate their reading achievements throughout the year. For each achievement, kids can access funny celebration video where the Book character, brightened by his red colour, celebrates together with the kids and encourages them towards the next reading achievement.

The BOOK IT! program is all about generating awareness, power and action through a diverse cross industry program where fast casual dining brands and children’s book authors meet for a meaningful mission: increase reading desire in kids!

The Problem

Pizza Hut was looking for a partner to create marketing materials, both print and digital, each year that communicate a strong yet inobtrusive Pizza Hut brand presence, balanced with featuring an important literary partner and carrying forward the philanthropic mission of the BOOK IT! program which is to increase children’s reading goals by rewarding each reading accomplishment.

The Solution

Kidzsmart provides the BOOK IT! with multiple printable materials for teachers, parents and kids to support the program’s reading challenges. These printables help the users reinforce story concepts, enhance parent communications, celebrate program achievements and completion, monitor student reading goals, and much more. Kidzsmart conceived, developed and maintains the online celebration videos which are a key part of the accomplishment rewards.
